Raven of the Sacred Entheogen is a Faith-Based Organization lawfully incorporated under Section 508(c)(1)(A) of the Internal Revenue Code and established in Portland, Oregon. As a non-denominational religious institution, the Church operates under the spiritual belief that sacred communion with nature—particularly with psilocybin-containing mushrooms—is a direct path to the Divine and a living expression of reverence, reciprocity, and spiritual awakening. The Church affirms its constitutional and statutory rights to engage in sincere religious practice under: The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, The federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 (42 U.S.C. § 2000bb, et seq.), The Oregon Constitution, And all applicable state and federal religious freedom protection laws. We recognize that spiritual communion with sacred entheogens has been practiced for generations by Original Peoples and is part of a global religious heritage. As such, Raven of the Sacred Entheogen asserts the protected right of its members to engage in sacramental use of entheogenic fungi in bona fide religious ceremonies rooted in sincerely held beliefs. This includes exemption from the federal Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. § 801, et seq.) and applicable state-level Controlled Substances Acts, consistent with religious freedom precedent. 🕊️ The Church recognizes only one Sacrament—a sacred composition of natural substances found in psilocybin-containing mushrooms (including psilocybin and psilocyn). We receive this Sacrament not as a substance to use, but as a teacher to commune with—guided by breath, devotion, and mindfulness.

We believe that communion with the Sacrament is an act of sacred reciprocity and devotion to Universal Consciousness, which we understand to be the source of all life, wisdom, and love. The Sacrament opens a spiritual channel between the individual and the greater web of being—offering clarity, connection, and a reverent return to harmony with nature. This spiritual communion is conducted within the sacred container of Church doctrine, ceremony, and shared values. Members are expected to: Engage with the Sacrament only in Church-sanctioned ceremonies or spiritual practice. Adhere to strict ethical and doctrinal standards when preparing, handling, or receiving the Sacrament. Maintain a sincere spiritual path and avoid any diversion or misuse of the Sacrament. Keep a spiritual journal reflecting their journey, gratitude, and communion with the Sacrament as a sign of ongoing religious commitment.
The Church’s religious rights are supported by federal and state case law affirming the lawful sacramental use of entheogens in bona fide religious contexts. Examples include: Gonzales v. O Centro Espirita Beneficente União do Vegetal (UDV Decision) Recognized the religious use of DMT-containing ayahuasca by a sincere religious community. Church of the Holy Light of the Queens v. Mukasey (Santo Daime Decision) Affirmed the religious right to use ayahuasca in a ceremonial context under RFRA. State v. Mack (New Hampshire, 2020) Vacated charges against an individual who possessed and consumed psilocybin mushrooms in accordance with sincerely held religious beliefs. These cases strengthen the legal standing of churches like Raven of the Sacred Entheogen to practice their faith without undue interference. The Church reserves and asserts its legal rights to: Protect members’ religious freedom in court, including seeking relief under 43 U.S.C. § 1988(b) in the event of unlawful government or private interference. Maintain confidentiality and sanctuary within our sacred practices and spiritual community. Support our members in lawful, sincere religious expression and safeguard their ability to walk this path freely and responsibly.
We are not a recreational organization, nor a medical provider. We are a spiritual community devoted to sincere religious practice through mindfulness, ceremony, and the sacred Sacrament. We believe that the mushroom does not heal—it teaches. And through that teaching, transformation may occur. We ask every member to treat this path with integrity, humility, and reverence. Keep a journal. Speak your truth with care. Participate in sacred community with mindfulness. And know that the Earth is watching, and calling. The Sacrament is not something we use. It is something we meet. We are Raven of the Sacred Entheogen, and we are here to answer.
