Who we are

Raven of the Sacred Entheogen is a 508(c)(1)(A) Faith-Based Organization based in Oregon and guided by the principles of sacred reciprocity, spiritual communion, and reverence for nature as a divine expression of life. Our community is united by a shared commitment to spiritual growth through mindful, ceremonial engagement with what we call the Sacrament: psilocybin-containing mushrooms. We are not a denomination, but a fellowship of seekers, visionaries, veterans, caregivers, artists, and elders—those called to walk the path of inner transformation through nature’s most ancient teachers. We believe that the Sacrament is not something to be used, but something to be met with respect and devotion. It is a spiritual ally—abundant, ancient, and calling us to awaken. We understand these mushrooms to be sacred beings—emerging from the Earth in times and places where human activity has disrupted the natural order. Their presence is not random, but relational. They grow on our trails, our clearings, our forgotten corners—not as invaders, but as reminders. In their silent arrival, we hear a call to return to balance, to simplicity, to presence. We honor the wisdom traditions of Indigenous and Original Peoples, whose ceremonial relationship with sacred plants and fungi long predates our own. While we do not seek to replicate or appropriate these traditions, we hold deep gratitude for their existence and the spiritual integrity they represent. Our path is a contemporary one, rooted in mindfulness, spiritual ecology, and an ethic of sacred responsibility. As a Church, we come together in community—but we do not seek conformity. Our members come from many walks of life and many ways of belief. What unites us is not doctrine, but devotion. Not dogma, but reverence. We practice mindfulness as a way of life, build altars as acts of prayer, and engage with the Sacrament not for escape, but for sacred communion with the inner self and the greater web of life. Ours is a path of listening. Of slowing down. Of offering thanks. We believe that spiritual growth comes not through force or fear, but through presence, humility, and reciprocity. We are not here to escape the world—we are here to rejoin it with sacred clarity. We are Raven of the Sacred Entheogen. And we are here to answer the call.

What We Do

At Raven of the Sacred Entheogen, we are devoted to cultivating a spiritual community grounded in mindfulness, sacred ceremony, and reverent communion with the Sacrament—psilocybin mushrooms. We embrace a non-denominational, open-hearted approach that honors the deep truths found across many faiths, including Christianity, Buddhism, Indigenous spiritualities, and other sacred traditions that hold life, love, and the Earth as holy. We believe that all sincere paths to the Divine are rooted in the same essential truth: that Universal Consciousness is Love, and that this Love is the creative source of both individual transformation and collective harmony. Within our Church, we affirm that the Sacrament is nature’s sacred offering—an abundant and ancient spiritual teacher that facilitates meaningful connection to self, to spirit, and to the world. When approached with intention and reverence, the Sacrament may open the heart, quiet the mind, and invite a deeper sense of purpose, awareness, and unity with the Divine. We support this sacred work through a variety of spiritually grounded programs and offerings: ✦ The Diurnal Sacrament Program A structured, individual daily practice rooted in mindfulness, breathwork, and sacred reciprocity. This spiritual microdosing program is designed to help members deepen their relationship with the Sacrament and cultivate presence in everyday life. Participants are guided through intention-setting, altar building, and journaling, creating a sacred rhythm of communion. ✦ The Sacred Communion Workshop Our central ceremonial offering—a guided group experience rooted in meditation, prayer, integration, and the responsible use of the Sacrament in accordance with Church doctrine. This workshop honors the ancient principles of ceremony, inviting participants to return to the altar of the Earth and experience sacred communion as a celebration of life and impermanence. ✦ Veterans Diurnal Sacrament Program This special initiative provides veteran-led spiritual support through the Diurnal Sacrament framework. Designed for veterans managing spiritual trauma or post-traumatic disconnection, the program offers peer mentorship, facilitator guidance, and community integration—all rooted in reverence, mindfulness, and sacred care. The first 50 veterans are enrolled free, and the program is built to train vets to guide other vets.

MEET OUR TEAM

Jonathon Maxwell Stanaford is a lifelong mycologist, spiritual practitioner, and visionary leader with over 17 years of experience working with fungi, both as a scientific discipline and a sacred path. As the founder and Board Chair of Raven of the Sacred Entheogen, Jonathon has dedicated his life to cultivating a modern spiritual community rooted in reverence, reciprocity, and responsible relationship with the Sacrament—psilocybin mushrooms. His journey began with a deep curiosity about the natural world, which grew into a spiritual practice when he began exploring mindfulness and the sacred use of entheogens. Jonathon’s insights are shaped by years in the lab, but also by quiet moments of harvest, breath, and prayer. His work reflects a core belief that mushrooms are not just organisms—they are ancient kin, spiritual allies, and guides calling us to return to harmony with nature. Jonathon is the author of The Mindful Mycologist, a book that weaves Buddhist-inspired mindfulness with sacred mushroom cultivation and practice. His teachings emphasize presence, gratitude, spiritual inquiry, and a deep respect for Indigenous wisdom and the natural world. He is currently leading the development of the Church’s cornerstone programs, including the Diurnal Sacrament Program, the Sacred Communion Workshop, and the Veterans Diurnal Sacrament Initiative—alongside his brother, Retired Sergeant Major Tom Davie.
